God will give you more than you can handle

Alright, I’m just going to use my brave voice and say it. Because I needed to hear this, and maybe you do, too.

God is going to give you more than you can handle.

Let me repeat that. God will give you more than you can handle.

Yep, it’s going to happen. Or it’s already happened. Or maybe you’re battling through that impossible season right now and yelling, “Amen!” with me. It’s more than we can bear, and the weight on our shoulders is excruciating.

I’m not sure where the phrase, “God will never give you anything more than you can handle” came from, but friends, it is a lie. Let’s stop saying it, please, because it’s really deceiving.

But don’t worry, there’s good news.

God will never give you more than HE can handle. This isn’t about what we can handle, it’s about God. It’s not about us; it’s never been about us.

This is about the strength, power, justice and mercy of our God.

This is the same faithful God who delivered Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego out of the hand of King Nebuchadnezzar and from the burning fiery furnace when they would not worship the image the king had made.

“…our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king.”

– Daniel 3:17

The same loving God who lifted Peter out of the sea when waves and doubts overcame him.

He said, “Come.” So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, “Lord, save me.” Jesus immediately reached out his hand and took hold of him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”

– Matthew 14:29-31

He lifts you too, friend. Pass those fears and worries over to the hands of the Lord. He can handle it.
