The Lord is calling. What’s your answer?

    June 20, 2021 /

About four years ago, while Hunter and I were living in Arkansas, a friend of mine took me to my favorite lunch spot in town. As we sat down with our tomato soup and grilled sandwiches (I love a good sammie…), she asked me what was next for us. We were coming to a point in our lives that required many big decisions about our careers, moving to a new place and God-sized dreams.  I mentioned to her Hunter applied to several places around the country, and I was going to apply to a few places in central Ohio, specifically a public relations job I was ecstatic about. At that…

    Becoming a Well-Watered Woman in a Parched World – Day 2

    October 26, 2020 /

Hello! Today is day two of our week-long devo together! I’m so glad you’re here! Just to recap, we’re going through the Becoming a Well-Watered Woman in a Parched World in the free Youversion Bible app.  Today’s devo is called What is your identity rooted in? And it starts by saying that our sense of identity has roots, and our identity is rooted in what we believe about God and ourselves. When these beliefs aren’t rooted in the truth, chaos ensues. Sometimes we feel our identity is based on past experiences, sins we feel trapped by, failures, mistakes. This is so true. Sometimes I replay really terrible decisions I’ve made…

Becoming a Well-Watered Woman in a Parched World: Day 1

    October 25, 2020 /

Thanks so much for joining our devotional this week! We’re doing the devotional called Becoming a Well-Watered Woman in a Parched World in the free Youversion Bible app. If you haven’t read that yet, I highly recommend checking it out so you can follow along for the week! Kicking off our week is a devo called “How are you – really?” So many times when we’re asked how we’re doing, 99% of the time, we say, “Fine.” No further comment. I would be lying if I said I’ve been fine the last nine months. It’s been a tough year. Not just for me, but literally the entire world. I know…

    Hang on

    July 17, 2020 /

Hanging on to what I know to be true: God is in control. I’ve white knuckled what I have no authority over for too long. It’s time to loosen the grip.  “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.” Psalm 23:4  God is love. Resentment and bitterness do not look like the heart of Christ, the Father or the fruit of the Spirit, but clouds and reaps the fruit of chaos in my own heart. “Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put…

2022 was a whirlwind welcoming our happy boy Jude, 2022 was a whirlwind welcoming our happy boy Jude, launching a church plant, selling our home in Columbus, moving to Athens, weddings, celebrations, losses, growth, set backs. It was my favorite year, without a doubt, and I’m so excited to see what the good Lord has in store for the Hackworths in 2023. Cheers to the new year and to you, dear friends and family, who provided support and strength to us when we needed it most this year. 🤍

Tomorrow, mama heads back to work, so we are snuggling as much as we can tonight. These sweet moments are my absolute favorite, and I will miss hugging, holding, nursing and kissing this baby whenever we both want and need. Twelve short weeks ago, our lives changed forever, and I’m so thankful for this long, tiresome and incredible journey of parenthood. Prayers for us as we navigate this next transition and for my heavy heart as I say goodbye to my baby in the morning! 🤍😭
